NytSky Studios Working Space
This site contains various web design projects by NYTSKY Studios in different stages of completion
My name is Brett Matthes. I'm currently enrolled in school working to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree majoring in Web Design. Over the last few years, as I've become more and more interested in designing web sites for a living, I've worked on some different projects, some of them solely for the purpose of experimenting with HTML, some where the website was needed for something else and the HTML was just a byproduct of the project.
This domain was originally used for a podcast called This Perfect Day, hence the URL. Because we're no longer producing the TPD podcast I decided to use the site to house some of my other projects.
- Green Heart Wellness
- Website under construction for Massage Therapist/Acupuncturist
- Frankie Gene Music
- Website under construction for local singer/songwriter
- Pool Company
- Redseign for pool service company
- Brett Matthes Home Page
- This site was my final project for my first web design class. The design is more advanced than a first-year class teaches because, as I had prior knowledge of HTML and CSS, the professor allowed me, basically, free reign of my design (with a few required features, like internal CSS on the career page, mandatory use of tables, a few other things). My site incorporates elements from HTML5 and CSS 3.
- The Basics - Basically
- This is music originally recorded in 1991 by my dad, GilHernandez, and his partner Gus Useda. My dad wanted a digital version so I copied the music directly from a tape (hence the sound quality being kind of low).
- Earth-First Candles
- This site was more of an experiment in learning CSS 3, but designed as the web presense of a business i was thinking of creating with my wife. The site is kind of clunky and needs some re-work, but low on my list of priorities right now.
- The Original This Perfect Day Podcast
- This was a conspiracy theory/anti-conspiracy theory podcast project between me and my friend "Phil". We were just started to get some success when "Phil" moved out of state. The code on this site was made when I was attempting to transition into using solid CSS as an integral part of my work. It's not coded well, and if we were still making the show I would completely rework the site using proper techniques. As it is, I updated a few things, like changing all the internal links to relative urls and got rid of an old javascript audio player and replaced it with HTML 5 <audio> tags.
- Andrea Tripodi Home Page
- This is the very site I designed using any type of CSS style sheet. It's outdated, mostly deprecated, and not very efficient. This will actually become my wife's new project (since she is Andrea Tripodi professionaly) while I teach her HTML and CSS as well.
